Patient Participation Group

At St Georges Medical centre we have a very strong history of Patient Participation Group activity.  Our new Patient Participation Group was relaunched in December 2019.  It’s purpose is to ensure that patients are involved in decisions about the range and quality of services provided by St Georges Medical Centre and where appropriate help to shape new services and initiatives.  The PPG Steering Committee meets a minimum of 6 times per year and has 7 electable positions; the Committee sets out annual objectives and represents patients on various Project Groups within the practice.  Elections for the Steering Committee will be held every January and if a vacancy should occur, it will be advertised here, in the Join Our Team section on the website, on the PPG noticeboard and will be emailed out to members of the Virtual PPG (see below).  More details of the Steering Group and the roles will be provided soon.

Patients can join our Virtual PPG – this is digital membership of the group.  We will communicate to you via our PPG email and you can contact us back.  If you want to join the Virtual PPG, please email us at wiccg.StGeorgesPPG@nhs.net.

From 2020, the PPG will produce a regular newsletter that aims to inform our patients and encourage membership of our Virtual PPG.  We are currently working on our first newsletter and will publish it soon!

The practice has a dedicated notice board where all PPG items and news will be displayed.  This is situated just past the Health Promotion Room where our Phlebotomist is based during her morning clinics.

With continuous collaboration, the members of the PPG have built up a good working relationship with the St Georges team and have already been involved in a number of projects including the launch of the online consultation service eConsult, which is now available on the front of the practice website.  This can be used to contact your doctor about your condition or symptoms and there is also an option to contact the surgery about administrative queries.

To support the continuing increase in digital healthcare initiatives the PPG are holding some Digital Drop-in Sessions in the surgery to help patients with eConsult and to get Patient Access, through which you can go online and make, change and cancel appointments and order repeat medications easily from the comfort of your own home.  Our first Digital Drop-in session will be on Wednesday 26th February between 2pm and 4pm – come along and meet some members of the PPG Steering Committee!
